Tyler Williams

Executive Director, Downtown Vegas Alliance

Tyler Williams recently resigned as Director of Brand Experience at Zappos.com, the experiential e-commerce company after 12 years, where he quickly rose to the top of the company after starting in the call center.  His other roles included Chief Fungineer and Head of Brand Aura. In his roles, Tyler oversaw various teams focused on delivering WOW to employees, the community, and Zappos customers through the creation and execution of engaging programs, unique events, and philanthropic endeavors. Tyler’s unique background and skillsets delivered on inspirational moments that fostered connection, increased engagement, educated, and retained employees far above market norms.  The mission, which Tyler continues to help teach companies to aspire towards – is investing in and prioritizing a strong culture of authentic belonging, that enriches your employees’ lives.

While at Zappos Tyler also worked closely with the late Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh to help revitalize Downtown Las Vegas.  Helping pick out land acquisitions, ideate on unique/first/best business investments, and steer $350m in investments in the largely dilapidated Fremont East District.  10 years later Las Vegas was named the number one Pre-IPO Startup Capital in the entire United States.

Tyler is currently the Executive Director of the Downtown Vegas Alliance which has over 100 members ranging from small to large stakeholders in the Downtown Vegas Community.  Helping to align and amplify the voices of the community around socio-economic tensions of all types.  A true community champion on every level.

Prior to starting his career at Zappos, Tyler was a touring musician, drumming for various rock bands that toured the US and Canada and continues to write and publish music in his free time.  With a love for all things Viking culture, his hobbies include axe throwing, archery, rafting, and camping in the great outdoors.

Married to his high school sweetheart Elissa for 17 years, Tyler and his wife are proud paw-rents to their rescue dog, a 11-year-old teacup Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix named Petunia.
