César Pérez Barnés
Investor, Advisor, and Independent Board Member
César Pérez Barnés is an investor, advisor, and independent board member with 30 +years experience in Latin America, Europe, and the US. Until 2022 he was Partner and Head of the Mexico office of the Southern Cross Group, where he was also a member of the Executive and Investment Committees. Founded in 1998, SCG is a PE firm with cumulative US 3.5 Bi in 5 funds that make control investments in Latin American companies with a significant potential for improved performance and growth.
Prior to joining SCG in 2007, Mr. Pérez Barnés was a Principal with Advent International in its Mexico City office. He was also Director of Investments with Netjuice Capital a venture capital firm based out of Madrid where he led the investment in Kelkoo, a pan European price comparison venture, later acquired by Yahoo for € 475 M.
Cesar started his career as a management consultant with McKinsey & Co advising clients on strategy and operations in Mexico, the US, Europe, and Latin America. He was also the founding Managing Director of Endeavor Mexico, an international NGO that promotes high impact entrepreneurship in emerging markets.
Mr. Pérez Barnés holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and an M.S. in Engineering (TPP) also from MIT. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He is a member of a member of YPO´s Mexico City Chapter, also a former member of the board of AMEXCAP (Mexican Association of PE & VC Funds) and of the advisory board of Endeavor Mexico.
